How can I download my footage?

After you return your camera, you will receive a link via email to download your recordings as well as a pre-edited story of your dive, ready to be shared directly! All your footage is safely stored in the cloud and always accessible in the Paralenz app.

Can I share my recordings with friends?

Absolutely. You can share your recordings with your dive buddies even before returning the camera. Simply let your dive buddies scan the QR code on the back of the camera and they will receive a download link after you return your camera, too.

Do I need to be a diver to enjoy the camera?

You don’t need to be a diver to enjoy using a Paralenz camera :) You can shoot great underwater videos and photos while snorkeling, too!

I have never shot underwater videos before. Is it difficult?

It’s easier than you might think! Paralenz cameras are intuitive to handle and offer a simple point-and-shoot experience for all levels of video and photography.

What do I need in order to rent a camera?

To rent a Paralenz camera, you only need to bring a mobile device capable of scanning QR codes. You will also need to download the free Paralenz app via the App Store or Google Play Store.

Be aware: you can’t rent a camera without a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet, or without the Paralenz app.

Why do I need to download the Paralenz app?

The Paralenz app guides you through the rental process and processes payments.

After returning the camera, your recordings will automatically appear on the Paralenz app. In addition, the app offers many useful features like auto-editing, sharing, media library, dive log, and dive profile.

How do I scan the QR code?

For iPhone users:

  1. Open the Camera app on your iPhone.
  2. Point your iPhone camera at the QR code to scan it.
  3. Tap the pop-up notification at the top of your screen.

Note: If you do not see a notification pop up, make sure that you have the “Scan QR Codes” feature enabled. You can do this by going to Settings > Camera and tapping the slider next to ”Scan QR Codes”. You will know it is turned on when it is green.

For Android users:

  1. Press and hold the home button.
  2. Tap on Lens. This is the circle surrounded by lines to the left of the four colored buttons at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Point your camera at the QR code.
  4. Tap the magnifying glass icon to scan the QR code.
  5. Tap the pop-up notification

Via the Paralenz app:

  1. Open the Paralenz app.
  2. Tap on “Rental” in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap on “Scan rental QR”
How much does it cost to rent, and how do I pay?

Renting a Paralenz camera costs $25 for a whole day of diving. The payment will be processed via the Paralenz app. In the app, you can pay via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or CreditCard.

Currently, it is only possible to pay via the App.

Can I rent more than one Paralenz camera?

You can only rent one camera per mobile device and only one camera per checkout process. Each camera is connected to one user account on the Paralenz app.

Suppose you like to rent more than one camera. In that case, you will need to start a new rental checkout process using a separate mobile device and a separate Paralenz app account.

Can I rent Paralenz gear?

The rental camera comes with the Paralenz Grip already attached. It is not possible to rent additional Paralenz gear with the rental camera.

How long is the rental period?

The rental period is 24 hours, and the rental time starts after taking out the rented camera from the Rental Kiosk. You need to return your camera within 24 hours, as additional late return fees may apply.

Can I extend the rental period before returning the Paralenz camera?

Currently, this is not possible. You can rent a new camera for another 24 hours after returning your current rental camera.

When and how can I download my recordings?

After returning your rental camera, you will receive an email with a download link. It can take up to 24 hours before you receive this email, as we need to process your recordings first. Usually, it doesn’t take that long.

At the same time, your recordings will automatically be made available in the Paralenz app.

How do I return the camera?

You return the camera back into the Rental Kiosk in the dive shop. Tap “Return a Camera” on the kiosk screen and follow the instructions. Before you return the camera, make sure to wash and rinse it properly to get rid of the remaining salt from the Ocean.

How to share my recordings?

There are multiple ways you can share your recordings with family, friends, and even marine scientists.

Before Returning the Camera

For easy sharing, let your dive buddies scan the QR code on the back of the camera to receive a download link upon returning the camera, too.

After Returning the Camera

By clicking the download link you receive via email, you can download your recordings via the cloud to any device and then share them with friends or on social media. You can also simply share the email with your friends.

You can also share your dive highlights directly in the app with TheOceanBase and help marine scientists save the Ocean.

Why should I share my Ocean data?

While recording your day in the Ocean, the camera automatically registers valuable information around you in realtime: temperature, depth, conductivity, and location. Our amazing local partners use this data to gain better insights in the Ocean and save it.

How do I share my Ocean data?

After returning the camera, your dives will be automatically imported to the Paralenz app. This can take some time. After the import, pick your favorite recordings and share it by creating a story. With every dive you share, you help save the Ocean by supporting marine scientists with valuable Ocean data.

What are the different camera modes?

Daylight Mode

Use this mode when shooting photos or videos during the daytime.

Daylight Zoom Mode

Use this mode when shooting photos or videos during the daytime. The digital zoom is the perfect tool to bring you closer to marine life.

Torch Mode

Use this mode when shooting photos or videos with an artificial light source, like a dive torch, during nighttime or deep dives lacking natural light.

Torch Zoom Mode

Use this mode when shooting photos or videos with an artificial light source, like a dive torch, during nighttime or deep dives lacking natural light. The digital zoom is the perfect tool to bring you closer to marine life.

Sharing Mode

Let your friends scan the QR code on the camera’s back display by switching to Sharing mode. Now they will also receive a download link to the recordings when you return the camera.
